Bel Monte Pleco Hypancistrus Species L333 , Hypancistrus Species, is a striking species of pleco. They are found only in the lower Rio Xingu, Brazil. It is a medium sized species, reaching 13 – 15cm when fully grown. The body colour can range from white to pale gold, and a dark, reticulated stripes covering the body. Hypancistrus Species L333 are commonly confused with King Tiger Pleco L066. There is great debate whether these are separate species, or if they are just variations of the same fish. In general, L066 have more of a white body base colouration, where as L333 tend to be a pale gold colour. Both are beautiful L numbers in their own rights. Its striking pattern and gentle nature mean this fish makes a great community tank addition. Bel Monte Pleco Hypancistrus Species L333 can be mildly territorial with others of their own kind, so ensure plenty of caves and hiding places to reduce this. Good tank mates include species of tetra, Corydora, Rasbora and dwarf cichlids. The L333 pleco prefers high oxygenated water and appreciate wood and rock piles to hide in. Also, they prefer slightly acidic conditions, so a pH of between 6.5-7 is best. To sex them, males have broader heads and narrower bodies, and odontodes on cheeks and pectoral fins. Females have narrower heads and are also wider across the abdomens. Hypancistrus Sp. L333 are very easy to breed in aquariums. Males guard their eggs in a similar way to most other species of this family. Hypancistrus Species L333 feeding requirements In the wild, the Hypancistrus L333 is omnivorous with a preference of insect larvae, crustaceans, other protein based foods. In the aquarium they are happily omnivorous and will accept a mixture of different foods. To keep them healthy and in good condition, a combination of algae pellets, insect and protein based foods is a must.
