The Candy Stripe Pleco L015, Peckoltia Vittata, is a beautiful pleco found in Brazilian sections of the Amazon River. Fully grown it can reach 14cm. It has an orange to yellow coloured body and black stripes. Its striking pattern makes it one of the nicest plecos from the Peckoltia family. These peaceful fish make great community tank additions. Their gentle natures means they can be kept with smaller species and are also robust enough to withstand larger tank mates. They appreciate wood and rock piles to hide in. They prefer slightly acidic conditions, so a pH of between 6.5-7 is best. The Candy Stripe Pleco is relatively easy to sex- the males have hairy like bristles on their pectorial fins. Also, males have a wider head, where as females are wider in girth across their abdomens. The Candy Stripe Pleco is omnivorous in diet and need a combination of meaty based foods and also algae pellets. They are not an affective algae eater, and if fed correctly they will usually leave plants alone. These plecos are also known as Candy Striped Peckoltia, or just Peckoltia Vittata.
