Location Native to Papua New Guinea, Spotted Blue Eye Rainbow is typically found in shallow, slow-moving waters with dense vegetation. They are well-adapted to life in small, calm bodies of water. Diet These fish are micro predators and do best on a varied diet of finely crushed flakes, micro pellets, and live or frozen foods such as daphnia and baby brine shrimp. Regular feeding of protein-rich foods helps maintain their colour. Care Spotted Blue Eye Rainbow prefer soft, slightly acidic to neutral water with temperatures between 24–28°C. They thrive in clean tanks with gentle filtration and benefit from being kept in small groups. Habitat A well-planted tank with floating plants and open swimming space mimics their natural environment. Dim lighting and a dark substrate will enhance their brilliant colouration and active schooling behaviour. Breeding Breeding Spotted Blue Eye Rainbow is possible in a peaceful, species-dedicated tank. They scatter eggs among fine-leaved plants or moss. Collecting and separating the eggs ensures higher fry survival rates.
